Where Art Meets Structure: How One Artist and One Building Came Together to Build Something More

Stor-Mor Portable Building that was turned into an art studio

Every small business has a story. Sometimes, that story starts with an idea. Sometimes, it starts with a person. And sometimes, it starts with the right space.

In Hilliard, Florida, professional artist Lizz Klaras found that the missing piece in her creative journey wasn’t inspiration or experience — it was a dedicated workspace. With the help of a custom portable building from Stor-Mor Portable Buildings, she transformed a simple shed into a fully functional art studio and office for her business, LK Custom Creations.

The result is a perfect balance of creativity and structure — where art, entrepreneurship, and thoughtful building design come together.

Meet the Artist Behind LK Custom Creations

Lizz Klaras is many things: a professional artist, military spouse, girl mom, Chiweenie boss, and plant lover. She’s also the sole artist behind LK Custom Creations, a small business specializing in hand-painted glass and ceramic artwork inspired by nature, animals, architecture, and landscapes.

Art has been a constant in Lizz’s life for more than 30 years. After graduating from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2004, she pursued freelance opportunities, refining her craft while learning what it truly takes to build a sustainable creative business. While consistency didn’t come overnight, those years allowed her to sharpen her skills, develop strong customer relationships, and discover what medium she loved most.

That medium turned out to be glass.

Finding Her Signature — and Her Space

Glass painting is unlike any other surface. It’s unforgiving, challenging, and deeply technical. Lizz works exclusively with acrylic enamel paints designed for non-porous surfaces and heat-cures every piece to ensure durability and everyday usability.

As her business grew, so did the need for a space that could support that process. Working from home no longer made sense. She needed a studio that allowed for focus, organization, and separation between work and personal life.

Instead of renting commercial space or adding onto her home, Lizz chose a different route — a custom storage building designed specifically around her needs.

A Portable Building With Purpose

The Stor-Mor building installed on Lizz’s property isn’t just a shed — it’s a workspace built with intention. From the exterior, the building is clean, solid, and professional. Inside, it’s open, efficient, and designed for daily use.

The building functions as both an art studio and office, housing work surfaces, supplies, curing space, and finished pieces. Its footprint — similar to what many consider when shopping for a 12 x 20 shed — proves that you don’t need a massive structure to create something impactful.

Every square foot has a purpose.

This is where Stor-Mor’s approach to portable buildings shines. The building wasn’t just delivered — it was chosen, customized, and used in a way that supports real work.

How the Building Supports the Art

In the video walkthrough, you can see how naturally the building fits into Lizz’s workflow. This isn’t a staged space — it’s a working studio. Supplies are organized. Work zones are clearly defined. The environment supports consistency and creativity.

Having a standalone outdoor building allows Lizz to:

  • Separate work life from home life
  • Maintain focus without distractions
  • Protect materials and finished pieces
  • Work on a consistent schedule

For any artist or entrepreneur, that separation can be a game-changer.

Built for a Small Business That’s Growing

Lizz's custom artwork

Lizz’s custom commissions are often booked six months out, with limited availability each month. Her studio allows her to manage waitlists, customer communication, and production efficiently — all from a space designed specifically for her business.

She focuses on subjects that inspire her most:

  • Nature and florals
  • Animals and pets
  • Architecture and landscapes

By pairing her specialized craft with a dedicated workspace, she’s able to maintain quality, consistency, and creativity in every piece she creates.

Why Stor-Mor Was the Right Fit

What makes this project stand out isn’t just the art — it’s the building behind it.

Stor-Mor designs portable buildings that are built to be used, not just stored in. Whether a customer needs a studio, office, workshop, or storage solution, the focus is always on durability, flexibility, and real-world function.

For Lizz, that meant a building that could adapt to her workflow and grow with her business. For other entrepreneurs, it might mean a different layout or purpose — but the foundation is the same.

A building built for more.

When Creativity and Structure Work Together

This project is a reminder that the right space can elevate everything you do inside it. Lizz brought the creativity. Stor-Mor provided the structure. Together, they created something that supports both art and entrepreneurship.

From the outside, it’s a shed.

Inside, it’s a studio.

At its core, it’s a business foundation.

Inspiration for Artists and Entrepreneurs Alike

If you’re an artist outgrowing your spare room, an entrepreneur tired of working from the kitchen table, or a small business owner searching for a smarter workspace solution, this story shows what’s possible.

A custom portable building can be more than storage. It can be a studio. An office. A place where ideas turn into income.

For Lizz Klaras, that space made all the difference — and it all started with the right building.

By the middle of the year, many garages have become catch-all spaces. Spring projects are still underway, summer activities are in full swing, and it's easy for tools, sports equipment, gardening supplies, and seasonal décor to pile up faster than you can organize them. If you've reached the point where parking your car feels impossible or finding the right tool has become a frustrating scavenger hunt, you're not alone. Mid-year is the perfect time to take a step back, clear the clutter, and rethink how you're using your space. One of the easiest ways to reclaim your garage without a costly renovation is by adding a portable shed or storage building. Moving the right items into a dedicated outdoor storage space not only frees up room inside your garage but also helps you stay organized throughout the rest of the year.
